Brenda and Linda, a bonded pair of Pit bull girls, were found roaming the streets of Minneapolis together. Rescued by Minneapolis Animal Care & Control (MACC), they were given temporary shelter. Unaware of their powerful bond, the MACC staff placed them in separate kennels next to each other. Brenda, unhappy with the arrangement, decided to leap over a five-foot cement wall to stay close to her friend.

A New Home Just Around the Corner

Among the interested adopters were Kathy Walker and her husband from Minneapolis. The couple had recently lost their beloved dog, Sampson, and hadn’t planned on adopting another dog soon. However, after seeing the video of Brenda and Linda, they decided to visit the shelter. After spending just thirty minutes with the lovable Pitties, they filled out an adoption application, eager to provide them with a loving home.

Kathy shared her thoughts, saying, “The day before, I didn’t want any other dog. We had lost our dog after thirteen and a half years… The fact that she had to take care of her buddy, I was just thinking to myself, and this is gonna sound corny, I really thought my Sampson has something to do with this.”

Brenda and Linda are now thriving in their new home, enjoying every moment with their new parents. They finally have a happy place where they can be themselves and stay together. When asked if she was worried about Brenda jumping fences again, Kathy responded, “I don’t think she’s gonna be one of those escape artists because as long as she sees Linda, she’s all good!”
